Dei-Rasi Freckleton is from a very humble past. He spent the majority of his formative years in the harsh inner cities of May Pen, in Clarendon Jamaica. He however, believes in development through education, and he demonstrated this by being the first person from his primary school (Treadlight Primary) to earn a spot at the Prestigious Glenmuir High School. When no one else from his primary school passed for another top secondary school in his first four (4) years at Glenmuir High, he returned to Treadlight Primary, volunteered his time teaching G-SAT lessons and had 2 other persons passing to Glenmuir in his first year volunteering to teach lessons. He is currently a Business owner; consultant and developer. He is a retired high school teacher (taught 4th 5th and 6th forms in English A, Communication Studies, CSEC Biology and CAPE Biology), as well as he is a Mathematics coach. He is a youth counsellor, mentor, an international motivational speaker, musician and athlete. It was an initiative of his that had the Clarendon Counselling Centre conceptualized (this is a program where vulnerable young people could access help by way of a counsellor via text, calls or/ and emails). He also instituted the Clarendon Youth Resource Centre to provide access to information for the parish’s youth (which has further morphed into the Clarendon Innovation Center under the Ministry of Education, Youth & Information), facilitator of the Bucknor G-SAT and Homework Centre in 2006, Founder and CEO of the Clarendon Youth Magazine and the founder of the Sponsor-a-Child Foundation (this programme started to find meaningful solutions to the problem of street children in his home town of May Pen. It however, expanded to start adopting and caring for basic schools in the parish of Clarendon, as well as any other children from destitute families). He holds 2 Bachelors degrees, 2 Masters degrees and plans to pursue a PhD. He has been advocating on behalf of young people for over 2 decades. Much was his involvement that he was recognised and awarded as Clarendon's Most Influential Youth Leader twice. Other awards he has received includes the Prime Minister’s Youth award for excellence in 2011, in the category of Youth in Service and leadership, as well as he is a Governor General's Achievement Awards for Excellence last year for academics having gotten a 4.0 GPA from AIU, where he now is the AIU Scholar. He is the Governor General’s I-Believe Ambassador. He is currently serving as the Global Youth Ambassador for GVN (Global Volunteer Network), He is a Director for International Youth Society (based in Nepal). He is Jamaica’s Ambassador to OKYD (Opportunities Knock Your Door). He is former National President and Chairman of the Police Youth Club Movement of Jamaica, as well as past President of May Pen PYC which he led to become the largest single organized youth group in the island in 2011. He is the immediate past President, leader and House Speaker of Jamaica’s National Youth Parliament. Mr. Freckleton also served on the Commonwealth Youth Council as Secretary to the Special Interest Group, as well as PR head of the Caricom Youth Ambassadors’ Committee. He was recognised on National Heroes Day by receiving Heroes Day award in his parish of Clarendon (2017). He formed and served as the first Chairman for the Clarendon Youth and Child Protection Committee out of the Custos’ office. He is the founding Chairman for the Discover U Athletics Club where 2 members of the club represented Jamaica in the Olympics and World Championships. He is a past council member of the Jamaica Youth Advocacy Network (JYAN), founder and Chairman of the YFC (Youth for Change) which is an initiative to use his knowledge of the inner-city life to help transform the mind-set of “ghetto-youth”. This group evolved to the internationally acclaimed Young People Advocating Change (Y-PAC). Some of the programs under Mr. Freckleton's watch include Sponsor-a-Child Foundation to help children from very poor families, H-A-Y-Pro (Help a Youth Program) to assist young people to gain a head-start either in business or job interventions. Free2Dream is another program designed by Mr. Freckleton to help school drop-outs to get a second start with FREE CSEC classes and assist with paying their exam fees. He partnered with CariLed in the past and USAID to help young people to get a start at entrepreneurship ventures. Mr. Freckleton is a facilitator for the GRAPE (Gang Reduction and Prevention Education) program, he is a track and field commentator, Coach for the Tread-Out Strikers football team and former coach of the Glenmuir High School, Clarendon College, Denbigh High and Old Harbour High Schools Challenge Quiz teams (he has led all but 1 of his teams to at least the quarter finals). He enjoys giving back and launched a scholarship fund to assist the academic journeys of students ranging from basic/infant school to University students. He served as Special Advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister. He is the CEO of Wealth Alliance Ltd. and The Founder and President of PlastiCorp which won the 2018 Youth Ideathon Youth Business initiative in the Caribbean. His innovation is to use waste plastic to create a more sustainable asphalt for roads, as well as fuels, tiles etc….. He is the Operations and Marketing Manager for I Am Jamaica Gospel Radio station, he is host of Yute Medz on Talk Jamaica Radio and co-host of the discussion programme “Talk Jamaica” on Talk Jamaica Radio. Dei was awarded the Sagicor’s Community Hero for 2021 and was appointed as the Director for Future Leaders Network based in Bangladesh. He was the coordinator for the 2019 World Peace Campaign held in Egypt. He is a coordinator of the Future Leaders Model United Nations, and led the proceedings in Istanbul in February 2020. He is a Director for Kalinka in Russia, as well as team leader for the United Nations World Community Organization. And he considers his program PIMP (Peace In May Pen) as one of his highlights, as it led to over 60% drop in gun crimes in his home town. This program infiltrates gangs and known warring communities with a message of peace and having the ‘wasted times’ replaced with entrepreneurial pursuits for the youngsters. These are well received and though he knows that the program is a band-aid, he uses it as a backdoor into getting the police to have a tighter bond with the communities. He is 33 years old and a Christian.
